**Maintenance Generalist - Temporary**



This position performs all of those routineduties of those who build, modify, maintain, or repair physical buildings,structures, facilities, properties, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

+ Repairs,maintains, or constructs physical structures or facilities.

+ Carries outroutine maintenance or repair activities as painting, plumbing, electrical,furnishing repair or installation, unique cleaning duties, trash removal,property problem resolution or maintenance, snow/trash removal, etc.

+ Installs,builds, or repairs, walls, ceilings, floors, building trim, cabinets, doors,windows, etc.

+ Visuallyinspects and maintains a variety of facilities, machinery, equipment, etc. andrecommends unique or expensive repairs and replacements.

+ Performspreventative maintenance duties and routine repair on such mechanical,electrical, or water equipment as building heating systems, air handlingsystems, potable water systems, etc.

+ Assists indetecting systems problems and in replacing defective machines and equipment.

+ Cleans,maintains, repairs, and lubricates basic machinery/equipment.

+ Cleans workarea, tools, and equipment.

+ May performvarious cleaning duties and transport trash or waste to disposal areas.

+ Expeditorfor Teck in Kotzebue.

+ Complete allwork orders tasks assigned in a timely manner.

+ Mayalternate on call duties with other Maintenance Generalist

+ Otherrelated duties may also be assigned.

+ Thisposition has no supervisory responsibilities.

+ Other dutiesthat are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned.


Minimum Requirements

+ High SchoolDiploma or GED equivalent required.

+ At least two(2) years of experience directly related to the construction, repair, ormaintenance of structures, plant facilities, and/or properties.

+ A validdriver's license with an acceptable driving record for insurance.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

**_Weather:_** Work is both indoors and outdoors.The employee is occasionally exposed to wetand/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles;toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; andvibration.

**_Noise level:_** The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

**_Description of environment:_** Environment will vary based on the facility assigned to.

**Physical requirements:** The employeemust regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move upto 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, usehands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl,talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

**Travel:** Up to 25% of the time.Employee may travelthroughout Alaska and/or to remote locations and may be required to usealternative modes of transportation, including but not limited to snowmachines, boats, small airplanes and ATVs.Travel to and from the worksite will beprovided and arranged by NANA Regional Corporation.


Language skills sufficient to: 1. Read andinterpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals.2.Write routine reports and correspondence.3. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of theorganization.Mathematical skillssufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning abilities sufficient to: 1. Solvepractical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situationswhere only limited standardization exists.2. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral,diagram, or schedule form.
