Construction Engineer
Wood is currently recruiting for a Construction Engineer with experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. The Construction Engineer is responsible for construction and related support activities pertaining directly to the contract. They actively commit to being a HSSE Leader integrating a construction orientated HSSE & Quality focus into the initial design stages. A successful candidate will work to implement and manage a robust work process between Engineering, Procurement and Construction that ensures field activities can be planned and executed in a safe, consistent and predictable fashion, while at all times maintaining a high degree of Client satisfaction through proactive communication, reporting and performance.

+ Interface with Project and Discipline Engineers

+ Construction personnel and Company's Operations personnel to develop construction work plans

+ Document plans in construction work packages

+ Engages with individual project teams to ensure correct level and sequence of work breakdown structure adopted at project kick off

+ Responsible for early Construction input into the Project and Engineering Design

+ Provide ongoing constructability input throughout detail design, ensuring safest and most efficient construction methods applied

+ Accountable for robust work pack planning and consistent integrated schedule representation across all Project

+ Responsible for the compilation of work packs and job cards to meet project requirements, aligned to Wood global practice

+ Responsible for expediting work packs both through the engineering phases; and post implementation, through the QA checking process

+ Accountable for the quality of the construction workpacks, job cards, formats, contents and how they are used

+ Integration of materials management (work pack MTOs and AFC source documents)

+ Accountable for Construction estimate / CTR approval

+ Accountable for Planning and Execution of work / resource management of the construction teams

+ Responsible for ensuring work packs, materials and resources (including 3rd parties) are available on site in a timely manner to meet project dates

+ Responsible for providing adequate support to site construction teams prior to and during implementation

+ Actively promotes excellence in HSSE by setting clear HSSE expectations.

+ Encourages others to participate in HSSE, valuing their input and developing training resources where appropriate to ensure improvement criteria are met

+ Supports development and implementation of HSSE initiatives, programs and investigations

+ Sets clear expectations for individuals and teams, communicate organization, roles and responsibilities, and provide ongoing coaching and support

+ Provides consistent, visible leadership to ensure strong individual and team motivation and productivity

+ Fosters an environment where Construction resources needed to meet business objectives are recruited, developed and retained into a vigorous, productive and enjoyable work environment

+ Establishes relationships with suppliers and contractors on the basis of minimum risk and bureaucracy

+ Liaises with Wood and other project and construction leaders to ensure business unit keeps abreast of best practices

+ Develops a robust Work Pack Management Process that encompasses engineering outputs and materials

+ Develops targets and priorities for continuous improvement of the Engineering and Procurement / Construction interface

+ Ensures latest construction techniques / methods are utilized when possible

+ Takes responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty

+ Actively works with project engineers / managers to ensure the overall business delivers projects in line with its commitments

+ Active use of the Wood network to keep abreast of company developments, resources and opportunities

+ Promotes the principles of fairness and equity in line with the company's stated core values

+ Sets an outstanding example by modelling desired behaviors, including safety behaviors

+ Follows relevant procedures, keeps sight of what organizational processes are there to achieve

+ Measures, monitors and reports on construction productivity / project budgets so this is efficiently managed

+ Ensures project and operations risks are clearly identified and efficiently managed by Delivery teams

+ Ensures technical information systems achieve an optimum business outcome balancing business unit short-term, long-term, and Wood's corporate needs

+ Regular visits to North Slope required

Minimum Qualifications:

+ High School diploma or general education degree (GED)

+ Trade qualifications

+ Eight (8) years minimum experience in the Oil/Gas industry

Desired Qualifications:

+ Associates or Bachelor's degree

+ Two (2) years North Slope experience

Job-Specific Skills:

+ Familiar with the equipment found in a typical oil and gas producing Facilities

+ Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with project / design and construction personnel

+ Be able to carry out deliverables and communicate with site

+ Excellent communications skills

+ Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness

+ Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information

+ Ability to work effectively and prioritize work load autonomously

+ Inspired and motivated to work well and accepts feedback
